When doing lessons at a public pool, this is one of the mistakes you may be making.

I have had a lot of parents come to me over the years and express one major concern:

“I can’t afford private lessons, but my child isn’t learning in the public group lesson environment; what should I do?”

Unfortunately, many parents are not free to do private lessons, which is understandable. However, as a parent, you may be doing your child a disservice if you forget one crucial ingredient to their learning.

Advocacy.

Many learners need parental support and an advocate who will follow up on how to practice and expectations. They will pressure their child to receive equivalent time to practice during lessons and receive feedback. Often quiet learners, students with special needs, and learners who act out for attention are sadly forgotten because they are more challenging than working with other children. Children with parental support often have a more significant increase in their learning and feedback and feel confident in learning.
